- Before you blame the algorithm...
Before you blame the algorithm...
The easy test that reveals the real reason why your video flopped
When a video flops, most people blame the algorithm.
And I get it...you spent hours on the video, you posted it, and all that effort drove <1,000 views.
It’s one of the worst feelings to have this keep happening over and over (and why most people quit before they get traction).
After working with hundreds of creators and business owners on their content, I can tell you the algorithm is almost never the core problem.
The core problem is usually hidden within the first 5 seconds of the video.
Here's why...
When a viewer watches your video, they read your text hook first, see your visual hook second, and comprehend your spoken hook last.
So every hook is actually three components (what you write on screen, what you show, and what you say).
I call this the Triple Hook Method.
When all three of these hooks are perfectly aligned, the viewer understands the video instantly and is much more likely to keep watching.
This is because the visual, audio, text match helps the viewer’s brain confirm their comprehension in real-time.
But when each hook component means slightly different things, the viewer gets confused and scrolls away.
Here's what this looks like on one of my videos...

It sounds too small to matter, but the difference between 5,000 and 500,000 views is achieving max alignment across all three hooks.
To check your own hook alignment, you can run this super simple 2 min exercise:
Play the first 5 seconds of your last video on mute (Sound Off Test)
Ask yourself if a stranger could tell what the video is supposed to be about
Turn the sound back on and see if your first spoken line says the same thing as your text
If they don't match, rewrite the text hook and tweak the visuals until they do (and if you haven't posted your own videos yet, run this on a competitor's video to see it in action).
This is just one of ~20 small content tweaks that add up to make a massive difference across hooks, storytelling, ideation and editing.
I've helped dozens of people with zero content experience pick these up extremely fast.

Pat reviews travel gear and had never made content before. Pat is now at 124,000 total followers, with a top video at 6.6M+ views.
Ravi coaches dating for Indian and Asian men and had never made a video before he joined three months ago. His biggest one so far is 80K+ views.
Moussari runs a content agency and averaged 10 to 15,000 views a video before joining. Within a month, one video did 980K+ views, and another is past 2M+
All three went through my program and all three post into the exact same algorithm you do.
The difference is that they stopped guessing in their hooks and learned how to engineer proper alignment every single time.
The only way you fail with content is if you quit posting...and most people quit because they’re sick of every video feeling like a complete gamble with their time.
What most people are missing is a framework for raising their hit rate consistency.
That framework is called a proven content system...where every video is built from the same core components, and once you know which formula works in your niche, you can produce winners much more often.
On Friday, October 16, I'm opening doors to a brand new content growth program called Short Form Launch...
It’s a 4-week live cohort where I take you through my exact content system step-by-step, and you post your next 10 videos using it.
Hooks are one piece of the system.
Inside, I go much deeper on them...breaking down how to build contrast, the 4 ways to remix a spoken hook, the rules for text hooks, my database of 47 visual hooks, and most importantly, the AI workflows I built in Claude to make great hooks more achievable.

PS - If you already know you want to join the 4-week live program, reply back with "Launch" and I'll send you the link to secure your spot before everyone else.
