Two easy fixes to solve your camera fear
Short Form Launch closes this Sunday at 11:59pm ET.
If being on camera is what's kept you from starting with content, read this one first...then reserve your spot here.
Here are the first three videos I ever posted on Instagram, almost exactly four years ago today:

They're bad (I know). I am super introverted and was very visibly uncomfortable on camera.
But I kept going, and it became less of a problem over time.
Camera fear/discomfort is one of the first things people bring up with me, usually before they've posted a single video.
They tell me they're not a performer, they don’t want to show they’re face, and they’re embarrassed for people they know to see their first few reps.
I faced all of these issues as well (my normal voice is fairly monotone and soft, so I have to push my energy up just to get back to even).
What I've learned is that a lot of camera fear comes down to two mechanical problems...and both are super fixable.
1. You sound weaker to yourself than you come off to others
When you talk, you hear your own voice two ways…through the air in your ears and through vibration in your bones.
But listening back to yourself in a recording will only register through the air in your ears...so playback always sounds thinner than it feels recording in real-time.
This is called voice confrontation.
The fix is to give 10 to 20% more energy than feels natural when recording, so what the viewer hears matches what you normally feel.
When you give a bit more energy while recording, you’ll also naturally feel more confident.
2. You trail off at the end of sentences
This happens because your brain has already moved to the next sentence while you're still saying the end of the current one (this is called dropping phrases).
The fix is to record one line at a time, hold full energy through the last word, then look down at the next line and go again.
If you want to solve these problems, here's a quick test you can run on your phone...
Record one sentence about your topic the way you normally talk.
Then record it again, one line at a time, with 10 to 20% more energy.
Watch both, then watch a popular creator in your category right after.
If your second take sounds closer to theirs than your first did, you've found the fix, and immediately you’ll be able to boost your confidence on camera.
Btw, the first video you make in Short Form Launch is a simple list of 3 to 5 points, talking to the camera anywhere you're comfortable (or faceless, if you'd rather). Then we improve on it.
And if you never want to be on camera at all, you can do all ten reps with the seven faceless layouts inside.

Video 1 will feel uncomfortable...but video 10 will feel much smoother, and every one of the ten has a lesson behind it.
Most people never fix their delivery, because nobody tells them what's actually wrong and they quit before they start getting good.
Inside the program, I go much deeper on how to fix it, and you get four recording setups that start with the phone you already have.
If you want to get past those first uncomfortable reps with a cohort of others doing the same, reserve your spot here.
